Our Chapter History
Sitting at the breakfast room table in April 2009, three friends laid out their ideas, hopes, and vision for a NCL Chapter in the South Bay. Founding Patronesses, Patti Jamgotchian, Caroline Gratsch Stein, and Lisa Popovich, reached out to friends asking if they were interested in joining a mother-daughter organization dedicated to hands-on philanthropic giving. The answer was a resounding yes, and the Manhattan–Hermosa Chapter was born.
Information packets and invitations to a formation meeting were sent out to prospective members, tied with pretty ribbon, white roses and greenery, and the Chapter’s first classes were formed, comprised of like – minded women who embraced the mission and vision of the Manhattan-Hermosa Chapter.
With the help and guidance of our Expansion Chapter Advisor, Debby Stegura, and NCL, Inc. Expansion Manager, Erin Journigan, who patiently answered our endless questions, we began our NCL journey. Thanks to the dedication and incredible hard work of our founding board, GLAs, and members, we were proud to become the 152nd Chapter of National Charity League, Inc.
